Three images shared by Director ShiGuan (via Weibo) showcase what seem to be back covers for the upcoming Mate 80 lineup. These panels likely represent the standard and Pro variants. Notably, the premium RS Ultimate Design model isn’t present in the leak collection.
The covers hint at a striking new aesthetic: a circular imaging island placed centrally, rather than tucked into a corner.
Camera Module: What’s Different
Rather than a quad-lens array, the leaked cover plates show three camera cutouts arranged in a triangular formation. Flanking the trio are two pill-shaped apertures, likely hosting LED flashes or possibly a laser autofocus module.
The base Mate 80 model might feature a bold, thick rim around its camera module. But for the Pro variants, these cutouts suggest a more refined layout. As for the RS Ultimate model, there’s speculation it could adopt a circular bump yet some observers believe it will retain an octagonal module, consistent with its luxurious branding.
Hues & Variants
The leaked images also reveal two striking color options: glossy black and lemon yellow. Whether these finishes will make it to the final retail versions remains uncertain.
