Huawei Pura 70 and Mate 60 receive new Gallery features with HarmonyOS NEXT update version 5.0.0.155.
The HarmonyOS NEXT 5.0.0.155 public beta is now rolling out for the Huawei Pura 70, Mate 60, and other eligible devices, bringing a host of new Gallery features. This update mainly focuses on enhancing the album experience with improved functionality and interface tweaks.
Huawei continues to refine its HarmonyOS NEXT system through public beta testing ahead of a stable release. While the official HarmonyOS 5.0 build launched with the Pura X foldable, other models are still awaiting a similar update.
There’s no confirmed timeline for the stable rollout, but users can explore the latest improvements through the ongoing beta program.
In version 5.0.0.155, the Gallery app gains a new pop-up window that provides quick access to storage devices, allowing users to easily view, copy, or move images. The user interface has also been optimized for smoother and more intuitive operation.
Beyond the Gallery, Huawei has also upgraded the AppGallery, Browser, and system-wide Search functions. Full changelog details are available below.
Gallery Updates

When an external storage device is connected, a pop-up window now appears in the Gallery app, offering quick access to view, copy, or move photos and videos directly to the gallery.

The gallery interface has been optimized with an improved layout and visual effects. Photos are now grouped by date, and users can pinch and zoom in on the day view to browse by specific days. The portrait album cover also displays the total photo count.

Editing is more convenient with one-tap text addition. Users can now easily rename photos and videos using the four-dot menu in the upper-right corner.

Browsing and viewing have been enhanced with slideshow support and the ability to rotate large images temporarily using a two-finger gesture.

Albums can now be sorted by shooting time, file name, creation date, or file size (accessible via the four-dot menu > Sort method on the grid view).

The Moments feature now allows custom cover images and renaming, with improved naming for portrait themes.

Videos can now export individual frames—tap the frame capture icon during playback to save a still image.
