Huawei’s Annual Revenue Growth Proves US Sanctions Ineffective: Report
Huawei’s Revenue Growth Signals US Sanctions Are Falling Short: Report
Huawei has highlighted its annual revenue surge despite tightened US sanctions, suggesting that foreign restrictions have done little to hinder the Chinese tech giant’s rapid progress.
A new report offers a fresh perspective on the situation. While Huawei’s latest financial success is a positive sign for China’s tech industry, it also exposes weaknesses in US export controls and trade restrictions.
Despite widespread bans and sanctions, particularly concerning 5G network equipment, Huawei achieved remarkable revenue growth in 2024. The company reported an annual sales revenue of approximately 860 billion yuan ($118 billion), marking a 22% year-over-year increase. With strong support from the Chinese market, Huawei continues to push forward with groundbreaking products and aims to reach new milestones this year.
US Sanctions: A Limited Impact?
The US government has been tightening restrictions to curb China’s technological advancements. The Biden administration introduced stricter chip supply controls before the transition to Donald Trump’s leadership. Additionally, over 20 Chinese firms were recently added to the Entity List, limiting their access to advanced chipsets and high-end technology.
While these measures are framed as national security precautions, their effectiveness is debatable. The report suggests that Chinese companies, including Huawei, are advancing on their own terms, showing resilience despite external pressures.
Huawei’s Chairman Liang Hua indirectly attributed the company’s revenue growth to booming smartphone sales, driven by smart AI features and improved Kirin 5G chipsets.
Beyond smartphones, Huawei’s smart automotive solutions business is also thriving. The company has expanded partnerships with various automakers, including some foreign brands. With this momentum, Huawei is poised for further success in 2025, potentially defying expectations once again.
